India Sends 20 Tons of Vaccine Materials to Kabul in Continued Humanitarian Aid for Afghan Children

India has delivered 20 tons of vaccine-related materials to Kabul via Kam Air, reinforcing its humanitarian support for Afghanistan. The aid builds on over 73 tons of medicines and wheat since 2021, drawing both appreciation from Afghan citizens and scrutiny over geopolitical intentions amid ongoing child health crises.

India has dispatched 20 tons of dry materials intended for BCG tuberculosis vaccines and tetanus-diphtheria injections to Kabul through Kam Air, according to an announcement made on Friday by Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal. The shipment underscores India’s continuing humanitarian outreach to Afghanistan, particularly in the area of child healthcare support.

The latest consignment adds to India’s sustained assistance efforts, which have included more than 73 tons of medicines and nutritional supplements sent since 2021, along with multiple wheat shipments. These supplies have been routed through United Nations agencies as well as direct handovers, reflecting a structured aid channel maintained despite India not formally recognizing the Taliban administration.

Afghan individuals, including Burhan uddin and Wahida, expressed gratitude for the continued support, highlighting its importance in improving child health conditions amid ongoing challenges such as polio prevalence and high child mortality rates in the country.

However, the assistance has also drawn criticism from some observers, who questioned whether such humanitarian engagement carries underlying motivations linked to broader regional rivalries.
